Estimation Of Secondary School Population (A Case Study Of Onitsha Educational Zone) 2003/2004 To 2012/2013

This research·
shows how Demography and the· Population Statistics can be Jed as a tool
towards the development of Nigeria economy, which will also -ilp to locate and
identify scarce resources by states, age and sex distribution the country. The
data used was collected from the Department of Statistics jthe State Education
Commission Headquarters Awka, from 2003/2004 to 412/2013 academic session. The
study shows the Growth Estimation and jojected Population in all the Government
Secondary Schools in the three bcal Government Secondary Schools that made up
Onitsha Educati_onal I ne, by sex from 2003/2004 to 2012/2013 academic session
with its -~lysis using Malthusian models (Exponential model). From the study we
,:\ve that the local population for secondary schools in the three Local
fvernment Areas of Onitsha Educational Zone, projected for the year 2023 'ows a
decaying population when compared with the population of I j03/2004 to
2013/2014 session. Thus this work advices Government on the_- -·.,; - ·feds of
its citizens and growth of the economy.
