ABSTRACT

This study examined the entrepreneurship skills and practices of apparel manufacturers in Aba South an Aba North Local Government Areas. The method used for promotion of entrepreneurship skills of apparel manufacturers were highlighted. Problems associated with apparel manufacturing were also identified. Validated pilot tested structured questionnaires were administered to apparel manufacturers by simple random sampling method. One hundred and forty four fully completed questionnaires were returned. Frequencies, simple percentages, and T-test were used in the data analysis. Results showed that specializing on English garment manufacturing were the major entrepreneurship practices as recorded by the respondents in Aba South (23.2%) and in Aba North. (21.7%). Results from the data also revealed that the greater percentage of the respondents in Aba South utilized radio educative programmes and publications in newspapers to promote entrepreneurship skills as recorded by 20%. Greater percentages of respondents in Aba North use visual merchandizing as recorded by 20.5%. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that workers should be well trained as well as adequate capital should be provided for improving the business skills of clothing.
