ABSTRACT
this study was conducted to evaluate the effect of nutrient (AMN) fertilizer on the yield ol okra in ()kigwe and t niudike both in oitlicaterii Nigeria. this study was designed to acce tue elleet ol N PK terti Liz er on Okra prod uctu a. determine the effect of agrolyser on Okra production and also to determine the optinlun] rates of agrolyser and NPK fertilizer for Okra production. The experiment had iwo toctors agrolvser .ind N PK fCrtilizer each ol which had tour levels ol treatment, agrolyser had 0. 3. ( and )kg!ha. aid fertilizer had 0, 200, 300 and 400kg/ha with three replicates. The Soils of the locations \\ crc acidic having a p1-I of 4.88 Ibr Umudike and 5.84 !br Okigwe. the soils were sandy loam (H The results showed that the application of N PK fertilizer signi licant lv (P (105) ic reasci ii c yield, plant height. dry matter yield and number of leaves per plant in both locations. hut agrolyser did not significantly (P < 0.05) affect any of the parameters. the combination of 400kg/ha ofNPK fertilizer and 6kg/ha of agrolyser gave the highest ', ield of 750kg/ha at I )k .'while the combination of 3kg/ha of agrolyser and 400kg/ha of N PK Irii liver ga c the liia0ea pod yield of 1,292 kg/ha at lJmudike. The tallest okra plants, 40. 1cm at Olcigwe were produced by 300kg/ha of NPK lCrtilizer while the tallest plants 49.6cm at I. Jniudikc were pro(lticc(l h 400kg/ha of N PK fertilizer. From this work it was concluded thai agrolyser couldn I he alone in the production of okra, and that the rate ol 400kg/ha of N P1K lCrtil iver alone \\ a at enough br good okra prothiction. The combination of 6kg/ha and 400kg/ha of agrol\ ser and NPK hrtilizer respectively gave the highest yield at Okig\\e \\hilethe rates of 31cg'lia and 400kg/ha of agrolyser and NPK lCrtilizer respectively gave the highest yield at. Imudike.
