ABSTRACT
Samples of water were collected from various point along Aba
River starting from the discharge point of the abattoir to determine the effect
of abattoir work on the river. The sample was done in the morning and in the
afternoon on three locations each. The samples were subjected to BUD, Ph, COD,
Density and odour taste. The result obtained Showed the BUD varied between 6.0
—6.3mg/L 02, Ph 5.3±0.14 - 5.6±0.14, COD 5.0±0.12 — 5.3±0.12 mg/L 02, Density
0.95±0.02 g/cm3while the sample were odourless. The result obtained were either
above WHO standard or with the stipulated range
