Effect Of Maggot Supplementation On The Economics Of Pelleted Feed Use During Grow Out Of Clarias Gariepinus.
ABSTRACT
A 100 day feeding trial was
conducted to access the effect of maggot supplementation on the economics of
pelleted feed use during the grow-out of C. gariepinus. The diet were fed to
replicate of C. gariepinus fingerlings with intial mean weight of(18.25g) in
50-liter plastic basins according to the percentage body weight of 0.5% and
1.5% where treatment 1 was 0.5% maggot and pelleted feed, where treatment 2 was
live maggot and pelleted feed at 1.5%, treatment 3, was pelleted feed only at
1.5%, result indicate that the highest (mean weight gain) MWG was in treatment
2 (165.8 .L18.39a) with the highest (food conversion ration) FCR of (6.98±
5.06a) while the lowest MWG was in treatment 4, of (102.8 ± 14.43 )• lowest FCR
was in treatment 3(1.40± 0.28'). Highest profit was gotten from treatment 1
folowed by treatment 2 and the lowest from 3, summary highlights that maggot
supplemented with feed can be recommended for increase profit in catfish C.
gariepinus at 0.5% level of feeding with pelleted feed.
