Determinants Of Income From Marketing Cassava Derivative In Bende Local Government Of Abia State, Nigeria.
ABSTRACT
The research work examined" the
determinant of income from marketing cassava derivatives in Bende Local
Government Area, Abia State. The choice of this topic by the researcher was
based on self interest and the need to ascertain the determination of income
from marketing cassava derivatives. The study was carried out in Bende Local
Government area of Abia State. A well design structured questionnaires were
distributed to 120 respondents and collected to obtained primary data that were
used to carry out the statistical analysis. The data were analyzed by using
descriptive statistics, and multiple regressions. The result of the study
showed that most of the marketers were between the ages of 34-4 1 (52.38%). The
study also showed that most marketers in the area were men (57.4%). It also
showed that married people (50.48%) were mostly involved in the marketing of
cassava. The study further showed that most marketers (56.48) had only primary
education .The study showed that age, sex, education, marketing experience,
cost of marketing, had significant impact on the income of cassava derivative
marketers. The result also showed that the marketers made more income from
garri because it is mostly consumed in the area. It was recommended that
government should make credit available to cassava marketers with low interest
rate.
