ABSTRACT
Agriculture is
discussed in this lecture from the business point of view. In other words, we
are looking at agriculture as one of the productive sectors of the economy. The
implication here is that individuals, households, groups, cooperatives and
firms that are into the business of agriculture make use of the factors of
production in order to generate income. Businesses all over the world are
established for the purpose of making profit. This is made possible by
producing goods and rendering services for the welfare of humanbeings.
Agriculture as a productive sector of the Nigerian economy is made up of units
of production known as production entities or farms. In the course of
production each of the farms employs factor inputs known as factors of
production. The inputs (usually in their raw form) have to be converted or
transformed into agricultural products.
