ABSTRACT

This work studied the denìueraphic characteristics of staff of federal office of statistics Abia and imo States of Nigeria. The demographic characteristics I studied were age, sex, Academic qualification of service and grade level. help to put into effect, government policies or decisions, that is to say that they hell) (0 formulate and implement Doliuies approved by government, therefore they are indispensable and should he encouraged. This study wants to know if they are being encouraged by their employer, it equally wants to find out those who are due for retirement between now and in next five years and why some retired people die suddenly. : Percentage distribution charts and frequency polygon were used to find the results. It was discovered that greater percentage of those wno are getting ready to leave the service now and in next five years are males, also about ninety - six percent of them are not graduates and the employment rate is too low. The dependence of the government on civil servants for the execution of its policies and decisions cannot be over emphasized, therefore they must be equipped make meaning option in the development of state and country. The findings here indicate that government is not encouraging them.
