Constraints Affecting The Establishment Of Dressmaking Outfits By Graduates Of Home Economics In Abia North And Abia South.
ABSTRACT
This project work identified the
constraints affecting the establishment of dressmaking outfit in Abia North and
Abia south. It adopted a survey research design.The population comprised the
entire dressmaking outfit in Abia North and Abia South. Purposive sampling
method was used to select 90 and 80 sample respectively from the population.
Questionnaire was the instrument used to collect the data. It was validated by
three Home Economics lecturers in Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture
Umudike. The data collected was analyzed using frequency count, percentages and
mean. The findings indicate4 among other things, that the lack of new
technological equipment for sewing and lack financial support is the greatest
constraints. The study also identified some of the factors to be considered
before establishing a dressmaking outfit such as location of the establishment
close to the source of raw materials, availability of good road and
communication and some improvement measures like provision of new technological
equipment, Government building special technical and vocational schools and
graduates should be exposed to practical t during their training while in the
school were also provided.
