Comparing The Multivariate Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (Mewma) Control Chart And The Hotelling’s T2 Control Chart In The Production Of Star Lager Beer At The Nigerian Breweries Plc, Aba:- Edoziem Augustus C
ABSTRACT
Multivariate statistical control chart is used to
monitor production process consisting of more than one variable. The purpose of
this work is to formulate a control chart for the Nigerian Breweries pic Aba
plant as to improve the falling quality oftheir product, star lager beer. The
statistical package used for this work is the R-console. Eight quality
characteristics were considered which was reduced to three by the principal
component analysis. The Hotelling’s T2 charting technique was applied along
side with the multivariate exponentially weighted moving average control chart
to establish control limits for the components in consideration. The comparison
between the two charting techniques was made from the results obtained from
each technique. The comparison suggests preference over the multivariate
exponentially weighted moving average control chart (MEWMA).Thus, use of the
multivariate exponentially weighted moving average charting technique to
monitor and control the production process in cases of a small process mean shift
in the production process
