problematic resulting in low revenue generation from lax. This research work
was carried out to investigate the problems and prospects of Company's Income
Tax collection in Nigeria w ith particular reference to federal Inland Revenue
Service. Umuahia. Abia Stale. Various literature containing information and
studies in the area of company Income Tax collection was reviewed with
reference to the fact that the researcher used questionnaire, interview and
observation, and also relevant lecture notes, textbooks etc. simple percentages
was used in anal)sizing research questions, simple regression in analyzing the secondary
data. ANOVA in testing hypothesis. 1 he research put together the problems and
prospects of Company Income fax Collection in Nigeria into two hypotheses,
personal interviews were conducted. questionnaire were also distributed and
returned with answers. The population for this slud) embodied 32 of the staff
of Federal Inland Revenue service. Umuahia. It was found out lhal adequate tax
laws enhance the collection of companies Income lax in Nigeria. It was finally
concluded lhal companies income tax has no significant impact to revenue
generation. Recommendations, made included that tax laws should be clear and
not ambiguous and lax evasion and lax avoidance reduces revenue generation,
efficient and effective management information system should be installed.
