ABSTRACT
An investigation was carried out on
some physical properties of periwinkle (Littorniealittorea) to characterize
periwinkle based on their physical properties. The study was conducted on some
selected physical properties, namely; size, shape, volume, surface area, bulk
density, weight, and angles of repose. Results obtained revealed that the
periwinkle had size range of 21.43mm, volume range of 2.48mm3, bulk density of
0.478kg/m3, solid density of 1.05kg/m3weight of 2.36g, sphericity of 0.479,
surface area of periwinkle as cone 3 16.32cm2, surface area of periwinkle as
sphere is 284.2 lcm2,porosity of 0.496%. Also the angle of repose of the
periwinkle on three different material surfaces were concluded and the results
were as follows; 1.0400 with metal material 0.8310 respectively. The analysis
of the work showed that the periwinkle does not have spherical shape, it tends
towards conical shape because the of area.
