ABSTRACT

This research work was conducted to find out the benefits of childcare centres on working parents, types of childcare centres, management, problems and improvement measures necessary to avert these problems of childcare centres in Owerri urban area in lmo state. Sixty questionnaires were administered to working parents to obtain necessary information which was analyzed using frequency count, mean score and cluster mean score. The results revealed that childcare centres aid in providing adequate care, close supervision for kids and enable working parents take advantage of work. It creates room for more parents to involve in work activities and job opportunities. It also helps to reduce tiredness and training lost. It was discovered that the sources of finance for these centres are through individual supports and contributions, non governmental organization, philanthropist help, children's parents supports, centre's efforts and contributions while the major problems of management are: insufficient fund, lack of experienced personnel, inability of parents to meet up with closing time. Finally, the result shows that all improvement measures enlisted were strongly agreed by the respondent with highest mean score of (3.57) and lowest mean score (2.52).
