ABSTRACT

To eradicate poverty, secure a healthy planet for future generations, and bmt peaceful, inclusive societies as a foundation for ensuring lives of dignity for all. wort leaders adopted a universal set of 17 integrated and indivisible SustamaM Development Goals (SDG) to be achieved by all countries by 2030. The Unite. Nations Sustainable Development Goal-4 aims to ensure that all people have accessh quality education and the opportunity for lifelong learning. Having quality educatior connotes the development of relevant knowledge, skills, attributes, and potentials tin will enable people to achieve success in their future endeavors in society; as such. it. crucial in improving people’s lives (Igbinakhase & Naidoo, 2020; Food an, Agricultural Organization of the United Nations- FAO 2022) To achieve this, oner the thematic indicators of quality education is a substantial increase in the supply cl qualified teachers through teacher education (UNESCO, 2022). Nigeria, as a nation, concedes to this principle in its national policy on education, which accentuates the pivotal role of quality teachers in the provision oi quality education. In pursuance of the goal of achieving quality education for citizens, Nigeria pledges continued emphasis and support of Teacher Education in al educational planning and development, as no education system may r>se above the quality ofits teachers (FRN 2004, 2013).
