Application Of Statistical Quality Control In Paint Production (A Case Study Of Peacork Nigeria Ltd Uyo).
ABSTRACT
The desire to carry out this
research work was motivated by the rate of high inferior or substandard
products in our nation. The aim of this research work is to reduce or possibly
eliminating the rejection of products by consumers by eliminating assignable
cause(s) of variation in the production system of Peacork Nigeria Limited, Uyo
which is the case study of the research work and to establish a state of
control as the basic for determining when future observations, are in control.
Monthly data on the quality characteristics of interest within the period
2008-20 10 was collected from the quality control department of the company and
control chart for variable specifically chart, R Chart and Cusum Chart were used
in the analysis using a Statistical Software called MINITAB. It was observed
alter the analysis that assignable cause of variation entered into the
production of Peacork White Emulsion Paint since Chart for pH and Cusum chart
for viscosity indicate out of controL However, Homo-genization was done and the
process became under statistical quality control, it was recommended among
other things that the company should establish a standard quality control Chart
for monthly testing of variabifity not only in white emulsion paint production
but also in the production of all their products to avoid rejection by
consumers and to save them from incurring losses.
