ABSTRACT
More often than not, we encounter lots of real-world problems in different aspects of human endeavour such as economics, ecology, etc whose solutions are needed to make life worth living. Most of the said problems could be solved through mathematical modelling. This project work discusses how mathematical rnodeliing can be used to critically analyze tlie dynamics of population growth for single species of organisms in an ecological environment. The various forms of interaction among different species especially as they affect the population growth of the said species have also been carefully studied here. A major reason for modelling the dynamics of a population is to understand the principal controlling features, and to be able to predict the likely pattern of development consequent upon a change of environmental parameters. The solutions to the models discussed in this work are of considerable importance in fishery management and to biologists in particular.
