Analysis Of The Temporal And Spatial Changes In Rainfall Erosivity, In Calabar, Cross River State
ABSTRACT
The analysis of the temporal and
spatial changes in rainfall erosivity in calabar area was conducted in order to
develop a management plans to minimize erosion problems and to provide a
quantitative information on the aggressiveness of storms for identifying areas
in the landscape which are sensitive to disturbances. Results revealed that the
total rainfall for 21 — years period (1995 — 2015) studied was 62, 804.1mm and
the total annual rainfall erosivity within this period was 8,370.7mm. it was
observable from the results that the long term mean annual rainfall in the area
was 2,990.7mm while the long term mean annual rainfall erosivity was 398.6mm
results also showed a positive correlation value of 0.6637 at significance
value of 0.01 for 21 year period of annual rainfall and erosivity. Finally, the
annual rainfall for Calabar generally fell within a very high erosivity range.
