ABSTRACT 

It is true that statisticians are often asked for advice in making inferences from the results of experiments. Since the inferences that can be made depend on the way in which the experiment was carried out , the statisticians should request a detailed description of the experiment and its objectives, the design of the experiments and also draw valid conclusions from the results. Thus, this project is geared towards analyzing experimental results from a poultry farm, using the Complete Randomized Design(CRD) and the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Also, to determine if hosing system(pen) has effect on the yield of eggs production by birds, to compare and decide on the most appropriate of the designs (CRD and RCBD) used. Experiments are usually carried out by the researcher either to make new discoveries about a particular process or to compare the effects of several factors on responses. When an experiment is to be conducted, the researcher seeks to find answers to certain questions, to determine the treatment (factors) and levels to be included, the experimental design, and the appropriate method for the comparison of treatment means. For instance, a researcher wants to determine if there is significant difference among the pens where equal number of birds are kept. Based on the findings of the experiment, one can with a given confidence, decide whether there is significant difference on the yield among the pens where equal number of birds are kept. However, useful statistical inferences can only be drawn from properly designed experiments. Statistical design of experiments refers to a process of arranging treatment to collect required data for analysis using statistical methods and drawing meaningful conclusions from the results.
