An Experimental Design On The Effect Of The Treatments Of Tuberculosis On Age Groups In Years.
ABSTRACT
The main objective of this work is to specify whether a particular age group is affected by tuberculosis more than the other(s) and also to know the effect of (drug) treatments of tuberculosis on age groups based 'on a given set of data. Reported cases of tuberculosis on various sex and age groups from the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia, and Abia State were studied. Experimental design was employed in analyzing the data collected from Federal Medical Center, Urnuahia. A three factor CRD was used in the analysis in line with a 3-way ANOVA Model without interaction. Means of the age groups and treatment (drugs) (which were significant) were compared using the Pairwise Comparison Method of the Multiple Mean Comparison. The result revealed that tuberculosis attack has a strong hold on the age group (45- 64); the people of the age 15- 44 follow this age group. In terms of response to treatment, it was found out that the people of the age 0- 14 and ~65 are alike! similar in their response to treatment (drug). In drugs it's been pointed out that injections act differently from tablets (Kalu, 2002) and the results showed just that (where treatment drug A had a separate mean from treatment (drugs) B, C, D which are tablets).
