ABSTRACT
Road
traffic accident situation in Nigeria has been alarming and particularly
disturbing ever since the first auto crash was recorded. Transportation safety
implies the prevention of accidents and the minimization of accident losses.
People have died prematurely and properties worth several millions of Naira
have been lost as a result of road traffic accident. Social cost in terms of
trauma that is, loss of closed relatives, associates, friends, father, mother
has eventually lead to psychological depression. As Nigeria becomes more
mobile, the possibility of accidents resulting in the death of people and the
destruction of property on our highway becomes more of a critical factor.
Accidents cause significant losses to present and future productive manpower of
our country as well as in many cases, profound social problems, deaths or
serious injury. Accident scene capturing and recording information system
serves as a warehouse of data where accident cases are been reported and alert
is been sent to the Nigerian Road safety for necessary action. I was motivated to embark on this research
because if accident scene capturing
and recording is not properly secured and monitored the system will report
false alert by the intruder, lack of accountability, reckless driving, loss of
track of record, bulk paper work and difficult access to information. The
system was achieved by developing
a platform for an automated accident scene capturing and recording system,
creates a platform that upload accident in the system, build a database
structure used to store data of the users, design a platform that create user
in the system, create a platform view accident details in the system. This research was realized through the
adoption of primary and secondary sources of data collection which includes interview, observation, questionnaire, the
internet and journals and through the adoption of Structured System
Analysis and Design Methodology
(SSADM). The system is implemented
using Microsoft.VisualBasic.Net and
Microsoft Access as the database.
