ABSTRACT
This study focused on the Accessibility and
Utilization of ICT for Cassava Production among Women in Agriculture of lkwuano
LG.A of Abia State. Five research questions guided the study. The study adopted
survey research design. The population of the study was 100, made up of 70
Women in Agriculture and 30 Extension Agents and all the entire population was
involved in the study. A 34 item structured questionnaire developed from the
literature reviewed for this study was used to collect data from the
respondents. The questionnaire items were validated by three experts of the
department of Agricultural and Home economics Education, reliability of the
instrument was established using test retest method with coefficient (r) of
0.93. 100 copies of the questionnaire were distributed to; and retrieved from
the respondents. Data collected were analyzed using grand mean and standard
deviation for answering the research questions while T-test statistic was used
for testing the null hypotheses at 0.5 level of significance. Based on the
findings, the radio and magazine are the main ICT source required by Women in
Agriculture for cassava production. The extent of awareness, access and the use
of ICT tools such as Radio, Television and mobile phones are high in cassava
production. ICT has made tremendous impact on cassava production. The problems
I influencing the access and utilization of ICT in cassava production are
electricity and power supplies are absolute pre-requisites to using
contemporary ICT system, access to telephone, electricity and networks. Based
on the findings, the study among others recommended that Abia State government
should direct it's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres to
integrate the findings of this study into their programme for educating Women
in Agriculture (WIA) for cassava production in lkwuano L.G.A
