A Time Series Analysis Of Number Of Passengers That Travelled By We-We Motors Limited, Aba, Abia State
ABSTRACT
This is a time series Analysis of number of passengers, who traveled by WE- WE Motors Limited. The aim of applying time series on monthly data is to provide a picture of this data over a period under consideration, January 1998-1993. To ascertain through statistical test the existence of trend and to forecast the future growth of passengers. Computer analysis revealed a long-tenn trend. Model is obtained, on isolation of trend stationary is realized by the application of ARIMA (Auto-regressive integrated moving Average) model were obtained. Based on the result some Recommendations are preferred as follows: Trend moves up —wards, and it implies increase of passengers; therefore, the transport outfit should invest further by producing more buses to increase her profit. Increase in profit can further be achieved by increasing routes of the transport outfit. Standard mechanic work-shop should be established in it's various offices for maintaining the outfit's fleets of buses and lastly buses plying far distance should have specified period of usage; after which it will changed, re-sold or used on short distances to avoid getting commuters or travelers stranded as a result of breakdown.
