ABSTRACT This study was embarked upon to investigate the vocational teacher education students’ perception of the role and value of technical and vocational education and training for sustainable development in Enugu State. The study was carried out in Enugu State of Nigeria. Two research questions and four null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The sample for the study consisted of 559 students (209 male students and 350 female students) drawn through purposive sampling techniques from a population 2,178 students in all the selected tertiary institutions in Enugu State. An instrument named “Students’ Perception of the Roles and Values of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Questionnaire” (SPRVTVETQ), was used for the study. The instrument was face validated by three experts: one expert in the Educational Management, one other from Measurement and Evaluation, while the other one was from the Department of Psychology, Guidance Counseling, all from College of Education, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike. Results showed that students were well informed ofthe roles of TVET to national and sustainable development. The study also showed that students’ perception of the values of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for sustainable development in Enugu State was not encouraging. In particular, majority ofthem in all categories were ofthe view that TVET was for the less fortunate in the society; for people who are not clever; for school drop outs. The study recommended that Government and other stakeholders should provide the basic equipment and facilities to TVET institutions in order for them to achieve their aims ofproviding practical skills to students and also that guidance and counseling services to students at both primary, secondary and tertiary levels to be strengthened
