ABSTRACT

Four cultivars of pepper (Capsicum spp) were tried to see whether they can establish and adapt in Urnudike environment in South eastern Nigeria. They were evaluated for yield components and agronomic characters. The treatments were planted in the green house in a completely randomized deign (CRD) with five, replicates. Average percentage establishment was 82% Significant differences at PQ.05 in height among the cultivars from the first week after transplanting up to the fifth week. Plant height at 6WAT showed significant difference at p0.05 among the cultivars. From the result of the experiment, Birds Eye Chili recommended itself for number of fruits, number of primary branches, number of leaves and plant height while Tatashi was recommended for high fruit weight.
