Abstract The impact, of use of video recordings on quality assurance in some Nigerian Universities was investigated. The population of the study comprised five hundred and seventy(570) students from some departments that offer practical courses in five universities in Nigeria. Purposive and random sampling were used for sample selection. The sample size was two hundred and eighty-two (282) students which was 50% of the population. Among the four null hypotheses which guided the study was: There is no significant difference between the number of students who agreed and the number of students who disagreed that use of video recordings of practical examinations will improve lectures’ objectivity in scoring their students’ performances in practical examinations. Survey design was adopted for the study. A structured validated questionnaire was used for data collection. Data was analyzed with Chi-square. Based on the analysis the four null hypotheses were rejected. The dominant findings in the study was that video recording ofpractical examinations will improve lecturers' objectivity in scoring students’ performances in the exams. Among others, it was recommended that university authorities should organize workshops for lecturers on how to use video recordings for assessment and also purchase sufficient video cameras for examinations.
