ABSTRACT

Observation has shown that through the years, successive Nigerian administrations have been dependent on foreign countries for certain items and for human resources .One of the countries that Nigeria have bccn most engaged with through the times is the united states of America. Nigeria imports items such as fairly used cloths, food making items —e.g. ingredients for making custard. Nigeria also imports expertise from America, especially in the area of communication and power supply. Nigeria also imports cars horn American companies — General motors, Ford. Despite the dependence of Nigeria on America for these important products, the trade with America has witnessed a considerable low especially in military regimes. Since the inception of democracy in 1 999 the trade has experienced bigger figures —i.e. Nigeria traded more favorably with the U.S.
