Time Series Analysis Of Road Accidents In Imo State: A Case Study Of Federal Road Safety Commission (F.R.S.C) Owerri (2oo8-2o12)

ABSTRACT

 This research work seeks to analyze the rate of road traffic accidents in Imo. State. The data obtained were secondary (published) data from the record unit of Policy Research and Statistics (P.R.S), Federal Road Safety Commission (F.R.S.C) Owerri from January 2008 — December 2012. Box and Jenkins method of time series analysis was adopted. AutocorrelatiOn function (ACF) and Partial autocorrelation function (PACF) were used to identify a tentative model from the data. The tentative model was ARIMA (0,1,1). The model was estimated using MINJTAB. Diagnostics checking for adequacy of the model revealed that the residuals were white noise. A statistical test for adequacy of the model was carried out. The test revealed lhat the model was good for the data set.
