The Role Of Microfinance Banks In Rural Household Saving Mobilization In Abia State

ABSTRACT

The inability of the formal financial institutions in providing basic financial services and their inability to effectively mobilize savings in the rural area has propelled the researcher to write this work. The research work provides a brief conceptual view on the issue of savings mobilization of rural households. In carrying out the study, field survey was adopted and relevant data were obtained from 120 respondents. Simple descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis was use in analyzing the data. Four functional forms were presented and the semi log function produced the best fit as it gave a highest number of significant variables. The study concluded by making some policy recommendations on how best to achieve rural household savings mobilization.
