Studies On The Co-Infection Of HIV And Atypical Mycobacteria In Mercy Specialist Hospital Ahiaeke Ndume Abia State

ABSTRACT
This study investigate on the co-infection of HIV and atypical mycobacteria. The Trinity Biotech Uni-GoldTM rapid test method was used to screen for the HIV while Ziehi Neelsen stain was used to check for TB infection. A total of 115 HIV patients were recorded from the hospital and only 8 HIV patients were co-infected with TB. There was 4 (50.0%) male and 4 (5 0.0%) female. Age range, 31+40 and 41-50 had the highest cases of HIV/TB co-infection.
