Statistical Analysis Of The Relationship Between First Year Results And Degree Results Of 984/85 And 1985/86

ABST RACT

In this Piece of work, it has been established that a high positive linear and degree relationship exists between the first year performances performances of students in Abia state University. it was also observed that the first year performances of most students were worse than other subsequent year's performances. Moreover, the high grading system of this University prevented many promising students from getting their desired classes in degree results. This system, accounted for the inability of these University to having not produce first class degree students, up till that year. However, in assessing academic performances of individual collages, it was revealed that college of sciences have performed creditably better than other colleges that were considered. Furthermore, the analysis of this piece of work also shows that the students academic performances are independent of sexes. It was also established that the postulated model for the linear regression has a food fit, that is the model adequately fits the observed sample data.
