Statistical Analysis Of Effect Of Parity, Age And Weight Of Mother On The Birth Weight Of A Child (2009-2010)

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the degree of association and linear relationship between babies weight at birth and some three correlates, namely mother's parity, age and weight. Analysis was based on data collected from Federal Medical Centre; Owerri (2009-2010).the results revealed that there is a significant degree of association between babies' weight at birth and each of the three correlates under study. There is also a significant positive linear relationship between babies' weight at birth and each of the three correlates under study. That is babies' weight at birth increases significantly with increase in mother's parity, age and weight. Model for predicting babies weight at birth given mother's parity, age and weight severally were obtained
