ABSTRACT

In this research, the data was plotted to give or show the trend pattern, when it was noticed that the plot has a slight trend which is negligible, the Auto correlation function ACF and partial autocorrelation function P ACF the original data was plotted. From the plot of the ACF and P ACF it was found that the model of the series is ARMA (L, D. I order to check or test the accuracy of the model specified, the test of hypothesis was carried out to ascertain the adequacy of the model. The model so identified was used to forecast the future rate of crime within the state. Based on these findings, it was recommended that the police force should be alert and map out strategies to combat crime in certain periods of the year .
