ABSTRACT iv Food security and nutritional well-being among the elderly remain critical public health concerns in developing regions. In Omuma Local Government Area, many elderly individuals face challenges oflimited access to adequate, safe, and nutritious food, which may adversely affect their health and quality oflife. This study was conducted to assess the food security and nutritional status of elderly persons aged 60 years and above in the area. A descriptive crosssectional survey design was employed, involving 257 elderly respondents selected using a multistage sampling technique. Structured questionnaires and anthropometric measurements were used for data collection, and the results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that a significant proportion (54.1%) ofthe respondents were food insecure, while 45.9% were food secure. Nutritional assessment showed that 14.3% ofthe respondents were underweight, 48.4% had normal nutritional status, 29.5% were overweight, and 7.8% were obese. These results indicate a double burden of malnutrition, with both undernutrition and overweight/obesity present in the population. The study concludes that food insecurity and poor nutritional outcomes remain prevalent among the elderly in Omuma, underscoring the need for targeted nutrition education, social support programs, and sustainable food security interventions tailored to this vulnerable group
