Reading Habits Of Undergraduate Students: A Case Study Of Library And Information Science Student Of Mouau:- Ogbonna Chinomso

ABSTRACT viii This study sought to examine the reading habits of undergraduate students of library and mformation science students in Michael Okpara University ofAgriculture Umudike (MOUAU), this research adopted descriptive survey method. A sample of37 was drawnfor the study which represents 10% ofthe entire population ofstudent oflibrary and information science students, questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Data was analyzed quantitatively and described through percentage andfrequency counts. Thefindings were observed that library and Information Science students do not read regularly, reading hall, lecture hall, room, departmental and college are students’ preferred locationsfor reading, constant and resilient practice, ability to read and understand, creating time to read, being surrounded by conducive reading atmosphere, having a daily reading goal and beginning on area ofinterest. Based on the findings above thefollowing recommendations were made that adequate study materialshould be provided for the students, library and Information Science students should read regularly, locationsfor reading should be established by the school authorityfor the students, locationsfor reading should be utilized adequately by the students and students should develop ability to read and understand.
