ASTRACT

An experiment was conducted to determine the proximate composition ensued grasses and legume mixture for ruminant in the humid tropical environment. Samples of grasses and legume namely Penniseturn purpureun, centrosema pubescens and the mixture of ensued at Michael Okpara university of Agriculture, Umudike, Ensued and fresh samples were analyzed .1r proximate composition and the results were subjected to analysis of variance appropriate for completely randomized Design (CRD). Significant means were separated by DMRT. The results of the study shows that the silage samples did not differ significant (P>O.05) in their physical properties namely moldiness, odout, moisture content. However, the fresh sample, and ensued sample differed significant in their chemical properties (P>05). Silage prepared from Centroserna pubescence alone had the highest crude protein content (32.66%) followed by silage card.
