ABSTRACT

A Nutritional content of fret pennisetum purpureum (Achara) and its effect on blood cholesterol and 10.97±0.202%, Ash 8.23±0, 2, fat 1.86±0.02% crude fibre 29.59±0.239%, moisture conte of 63.33±0.214%, and carbohydrate 49.35+0.02%. Feeding ol th plant produced a weight lose of (i1.73±0.4') g in the tcs group, while the control gained 11.73±O.21g.serum protein con itraUon was reduced (2.55 ± 0.07g/l) in the test compared to control 3U0±0.42). likewise blood cholesterol level and B-and pre B-lipoprote vas also reduced (0.032 ±0.009) and (0.0874 ± 0.02g/l) respectivel .ornpared to the controls (0.048 ± 0.00'ig/l) and (0.00874 ± 0.02g; rcspectively. Mean relative weights of both the liver and kidney decre: .d ftom 0.033 ± 0.00215g, and 0.0008 ± 0.0000212g, in the conbols .;pectively, to 0.032 ± 0.00106g and 0.0002 ± 0.00014g in the test ::ups respectively. Total feacal output decreased frcn 56.80g in the o oi to 25.81g in the test group. Feacal typsn activ' was detected in t.::;t. group.
