ABSTRACT This work investigated the effect of antihepatotoxicity of onion extract in rats. Twelve (12] rats of the wistar albino strain were separated. Three groups were induced with carbon tetrachloride (CC14) while one group served as a control without inducement. Two groups (3 and 4) were treated with bitter kola and onion extracts respectively while the other group (3) was not treated with any extract rather served as a standard. After an acute administration and treatment, the results of the hepatic enzymes (ALP, ALT and AST) assay obtained from this research work showed that onion extract hag 40%, 23% and 32.5% inhibition of carbon tetrachloride AST respectively when compared with bitter kola extract. This decrease hepatotoxicity.
