ABSTRACT

Proximate analysis, phytochemical and mineral analysis of Fictis exasperata vahi was carried out. Phytochemical screening reveal the presence of Alkaloids, Flavonoids, Tannins, Saponins and Cyanogenic Glycosides. Quantitative analysis of the phytochemicals present showed that Ficus exasperate had the Alkaloid content in the stem (5.3%) while that of the leaves is (4. 1%). Cyanogenic glycoside content in both leaves and stems are 230.5 mg/I 00g and 181mg/I 00 respectively. Flavonoid content oc both leaves and stems were relatively high 2.35% and 3.21% respectively. Tannins and Saponnins equally were present in relative Loncentraton 4.1 x 10 % and 0.13% in leaves resoectivelv. The plant extract equally showed the presence of minerals in moderate concentration.
