ABSTRACT

Phytochernicals and nutritive analysis of some edible mushrooms revealed that P. vquarosulus had 0. 141 ± 0.011% tannin, 7.50 ± 0.50% saponin. 5.00 + 1 .00 5%flavonoid. l.00 +1.00 alkaloid% and 21.00 ± 0.70% Oligosaccharide, while A.auricularia had 27.00±1 .00% saponin, 2.00±2.00% flavonoid, and 16.06 %oligosaccharide. robustus had 4.00±1.00% alkaloid, 0.055±0.002% tannin, 15.50+0.50% saponin, 18.59±1.02% oligosaccharide and 9.00±0.00% flavonoid. S.tuberregiuin had 0.083±0.017% tannin, 3.00±1.00% flavonoid, 2.50±0.50% alkaloid and 32.90±0.00% oligosaccharide. P.ostreatus grown on grass had 0.070±0.001% +(annin, 8.0±1.00% saponin, 6.00±0.00% alkaloid and 32.20±0.35% oligosaccharide. While P.ostreatus grown on T.ivorensis had 4.00±0.00% alkaloid, 0.042±0.001% tannin, 43.50±0.50% saponin and 3.00±111 .00% flavonoid.The percentage(%) nutrient content of these samples were as follows :P.squarosulus 6.06±0.75 protein, 5.50±0.50 lipid and 78.37±0.03 moisture. A.auricuiaria 1 .51±1.51 protein, 10.00±0.00 lipid, 53.22±0.03 moisture. T.robustus 7.56±0.75 protein, 10.00±0.00 lipid, 12.78±0.00 noisture. P.ostreatus grown on grass had 8.46±0.91 protein,63.17±0.75 P. ostreatus grown on T ivorensis_had 15.01±3.13 protein and 6. 13±0.58 moisture. Statistical analysis (p<O.05) there is significant difference between the phytochemical and nutritional contents of the mushroom spp.
