ABSTRACT
The experiment was conducted towards investigation of the physiological and rumen microbial ecology of goats fed Municipal Organic Solid Waste treated with Diastic microbes, in tackling the problem of waste disposal and alternative to grain base concentrate. As grain such as maize is a staple food for most human being, thus a competing factor in using maize as source of feed for animals e.g. goats. Eighteen Red Sokoto goats were randomly selected into three different groups with three different treatments of which each group was assigned a treatment composing of 45% untreated Municipal Organic Solid waste (MOSW) for TA, 45% treated MOSW TB, and 70% treated MOSW Tc, then each treatment was upgraded to 100% with Molasses 10%, Wheat and PKC 22.5% each for TA and TB while T was left at 10% all through, with clean water for drinking. The crude protein and crude fibre of the three diets were at the following percentages; 14.31, 15.56 and 14.69 and 15.1, 14.76 and 13.20 for T A, TB and T respectively. The best result in microbial load was observed in treatment C (146.33 x l0) followed by TA (132.33 x 108 and poorer in TB (122.33 x 10). There was significant difference (p
