ABSTRACT
This project is designed to determine the optimal allocation of refuse by nine refuse truck from six sources to two disposal sites (destructions) so that the total transportation cost is minimized. A transportation model was developed on the data collected from Imo State Environment and Sanitation Agency (ISESA) Orlu road, Owerri which was taken as a case study. A solution of the model was achieved using the vogel's approximation method. An initial feasible solution was found, which when tested was found to be the optimal solution with the result obtained from the work. The total transportation cost of refuse disposal was reduced from 14468, 212 to 14246, 672 on a monthly basis.
