ABSTRACT v Birth is the act or process of bearing or bringing forth offsprings, in mammals, the process is initiated by hormones which cause the muscular walls of the uterus to contract, expelling the fetus at a developmental stage when it is ready to feed and breathe. Birth registration enables a child to receive medical treatment, go to school, inherit property, prevent child exploitation and find legal work. 1 was motivated to embark on this research because hospitals in Nigeria still makes use of manual system of registering birth within their jurisdiction, manual system is time consuming, prone to error or inaccurate recording, it makes registration laborious, cost ineffective and space consuming, file occupies some rooms which should have been useful for other important thing in the hospital, the amount of paper document has increased to the extent of resulting to difficulty in referencing by the research doctors of that particular hospital. The system was achieved by developing a platform that would be used for real time Online Birth Rate Monitoring Information System, build a database structure used to store data of birth, create a module for birth registration, design and create a platform for birth recording, create a platform for doctors and nurses in the areas offamily planning and population study. The application was realized through the adoption of rapid-application development methodology.
