Microbiological Quality Of Groundnut Cake (Kulikuli) Sold In Umuahia Main Market

ABSTRACT

 The microbial quality of sixteen selected samples of "kulikuli" sold in Umuahia main market was determined. The total heterotrophic count ranges from 5.09x104to 8.28x104, while the total coliform count ranges from 2.5x104to 3.15x104. Four genera of bacteria were isolate: - Staphylococcus aureus, Eschericha Co/i, Micrococcus spp. and Bacillus spp. Also four species of fungi were isolated namely Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Penicillum spp and Geotrichuin spp. The result showed that the groundnut cake analyzed was contaminated.
