Abstract The inevitable need to make provision of guidance services integral component of future Techmeal, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes in Nigeria has ever been the concern of TVET scholars and indeed other critical stakeholders. Occupational and career guidance is avital guide to the development or acquisition of critical skills of survival in the world of work including vocational and entrepreneurial skills. This condition inadvertently calls for comprehensive career education with its critical phases of career awareness, career exploration, pre-vocational studies, vocational education and re-education, each of which cannot be considered of a less important value. Career decision making, job placement and follow-ups are extended guidance services indicated as critical to effective TVET programmes. Strategies for effective integration of guidance services into TVET programmes include; development of guidance-based curricula and training modules, preparation of guidance-based instructional plans, preparing and using guidance-based instructional materials/aids, development of guidance-based evaluation models and provision of guidance-based personnel services Keywords: Guidance services, Technical and Vocational Education and Training - TVET, Occupational and CareerEducation, World ofWork.
