Abstract Insecurity is a real concern for everyone in Africa. Africology exposes historical texts and literary works from a perspective focused on African countries. This research from the post-colonial era focuses on criminality and insecurity in the field of Africology. We have chosen for this work the novel- Syndrome 419 by Vincent Okeke an African novelist using a psychoanalytical approach that highlights criminality and the rise of insecurity among Africans in the 21st century. Crime nowadays is no longer residual but an integrating phenomenon in our society. Most especially, we will also identify adverse effects of insecurity particularly in African society and the world in general.
