ABSTRACT l X-:' Newbouldialeavis is aspecie belonging to the family of Bignoniaceae while Alchorrnea cordifolia belongs to the family of Emphorbiaeae. Investigation was carried out on the ethanol extract ofthe dried leaves ofNewbouldialevis. Finger column was ran from the crude extract if Achornea cordifilia (column 15). Extensive chromatographic techniques were employed, thin layer chromatography and column chromatography at different polarities of solvent to separate and purify the extract. Characterization was carried out using 'HNMR, 13C-NMR, COSY13C - DEPT, HMBC and HMQC to propose the structure of the isolated compounds. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence saponin, tannis, alkaloids, flavonoids and steroid, phenol and HCN. Antimicrobial activity of A. cordifolia showed significant inhibition against the five organisms tested viz Samonlla, Psedomonas, Staphlococcus aureus, Eritomonas - coli and Streptococcus but resistant to E - coli.
