ABSTRACT
Optimization, or mathematical programming, refers to the study of problems in which one seeks to minimize or maximize a real function by systematically choosing the values of real or integer variables from within an allowed set. It seeks to answer the question, LL what is best, for problems in which the quality of any answer can be expressed as a numerical value. It has important applications in situations requiring the attainment of optimal values of a quantity. Often these problems involves making the most efficient use of resources like money, time, machinery, staff, inventory and more, so as to meet a given objective. A mathematical optimization model describes the behaviour of an objective function which is to be maximized or minimized and the relationship between that function and those variables that causes its change. The model also includes a set of constraints expressed in 1 the form of a system of equations or inequalities.
