Impact Of Working Capital Management On The Profitability Of Manufacturing Company In Nigeria (A Study Of Nigerian Bottling Company Plc, Aba, Abia State)

ABSTRACT

This study attempted an examination of the impact of working capital management on the profitability of manufacturing Companies in Nigeria with focus on Nigerian Bottling Company, Plc, Aba, Abia State. The primary data employed in this research was obtained through the administration of questionnaires. The secondary data used in this study were obtained from textbooks, newspapers, magazines and journals. The analysis of the data in the form of hypothesis testing was done by the use of the percentage Chi-square statistical tools. The major findings were: That there is need for proper management of working capital in the manufacturing company. That efficient working capital management promotes rise in dividend received by the shareholders, that effective working capital management enhances profitability of a firm. On the basis of the findings, the following recommendations were made: That management should consider working capital management as function which should be handled competently and optimum investment in working capital should be a target of the organization since profitability is a function of efficient working capital management. That professionalism and training of staff should be • encouraged. Staff should be exposed to regular courses, seminar, workshops and symposia to update their knowledge. Also employment of those with appropriate qualifications and skills should be paramount. To computerize the work of the accounts department in other to enhance speedy information to management.
