ABSTRACT

This research work examined ihe impact ofvalue added lax on revenue generation of Nigeria, chapter one dealt with the introduction, the background ofthe study, the statement ofthe problem, hypothesis, objective ofthe study etc. The objective ofthe study is to determine the impact ofvalue added tax on revenue generation ofNigeria. However, chapter two dealt with the literature review ofdifferent authors, textbooks and related journal were reviewed. The chapter three focus on the research methodology use, the research designed employed was ex postfacto research design. Data were sourcedfrom secondary sources. Analyses ofdata and testing ofhypotheses were done through the aid ofstatistical tools such as tables, and simple regression model, in chapter four, ihe researcher analyze ihe data the findings from data analyzed indicates that value added tax has a significant and positive relationship on real gross domestic product growth rate and total tax revenue generation in Nigeria as proxies for Revenue generation. The study however revealed that The organizations especiallyprivate companies who deal on vatable goods and are expected to withhold these taxesfor the governmentshould be encouraged io be openly accountable and responsible in the remittance ofsuch taxes to the government as at when due. The government on its part should account properlyfor the taxpayers’ funds by utilizing the funds in the provisions ofobvious basic amenities andpublic goods. Thissis intended io boost the morale ofthe citizens and encourage them to trust in the capability ofthe government to represent them well when entrustedwith thefunds ofthe state.
