ABSTRACT xi This research work examined the impact ofvalue added tax on revenue generation of Nigeria, chapter one dealt with the introduction, the background of the study, the statement ofthe problem, hypothesis, objective ofthe study etc. The objective ofthe study is to determine the impact ofvalue added tax on revenue generation ofNigeria. However, chapter two dealt with the literature review ofdifferent authors, textbooks and related journal were reviewed. The chapter three focus on the research methodology use, the research designed employedwas ex postfacto research design. Data were sourcedfromsecondary sources. Analyses ofdata andtesting ofhypotheses were done through the aid ofstatistical tools such as tables, and simple regression model. In chapter four, the researcher analyze the data the findings from data analyzed indicates that value added tax has a significant and positive relationship on real gross domestic product growth rate and total tax revenue generation in Nigeria as proxies for Revenue generation. The study howeverrevealed, that The organizations especiallyprivate companies who deal on vatable goods and are expected to withhold these taxesfor the government should be encouraged to be openly accountable and responsible in the remittance ofsuch taxes to the government as at when due. The government on its part should account properlyfor the taxpayers’funds by utilizing the funds in the provisions ofobvious basic amenities andpublic goods. Thissis intendedto boost the morale ofthe citizens and encourage them to trust in the capability ofthe government to represent them well when entrusted, with thefunds ofthe state.
